Universitatea Craiova, through player Răzvan Puiu, has won the title in the 2024-2025 edition of the eSuperliga Romania, the official esports competition of the Superliga, dedicated to the game EA SPORTS FC™ 25. The performance of Craiova’s virtual team was impeccable, finishing the regular season undefeated and securing first place in the standings.
Undisputed dominance and qualification for the eSupercupa
Universitatea Craiova’s representative, Răzvan Puiu, demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout the 15 stages of the competition. He accumulated 41 points, recording 13 wins and 2 draws. With an impressive goal difference of +29, resulting from 46 goals scored and only 17 conceded, Puiu had the best record in this eSuperliga edition.
His performance was also confirmed in the final stage, where he secured crucial victories. He decisively defeated the representative of FCSB with a score of 8-2 and won dramatically, 3-2, against the Sepsi OSK team, which finished the season in 3rd place. These results solidified Universitatea Craiova’s leading position.
The victory in the regular season secures Universitatea Craiova a spot in the eSupercupa, the final tournament of the competition, scheduled to take place in Bucharest in May. Alongside the team from Bănie, the next seven ranked teams also qualified: FC Rapid 1923, Sepsi OSK, AFC Hermannstadt, Oțelul Galați, UTA Arad, Petrolul Ploiești, and FC Farul Constanța. The stakes for the eSupercupa are high: the winner will qualify for the prestigious international competitions eChampions League and FC Pro World Championship, where the best EA SPORTS FC™ 25 players from around the world will compete.
Visibly emotional after securing the title, Răzvan Puiu sent a message to the fans: “I sincerely thank all the fans who supported me throughout this edition of the eSuperliga. Their energy motivated me from the first match to the last. It’s hard to put into words what I feel right now, but I know for sure the joy is immense. In contrast to the success in the virtual world, the Universitatea Craiova football team continues its fight for the title in the real Superliga, currently 3 points behind the leader FCSB, whose representative in the eSuperliga finished in 13th place.
