Craiova, Romania – The much-anticipated Craiova Easter Fair opened its gates on Friday evening, April 11th, 2025, transforming Nicolae Romanescu Park into a vibrant stage under the theme “Spring Carnival”. The event, already recognized at a European level, promises an explosion of color, joy, and memorable experiences for visitors of all ages until May 1st.
The opening on Friday evening, which took place after 7:00 PM near the Bibescu House-Gazebo (Casa Bibescu-Foișor) and the lake area, officially kicked off the festivities. The public was greeted by a fairytale atmosphere, complete with stilt walkers, giant puppets, and costumed artists evoking the spirit of the carnival. Spectacular artistic moments, prepared by Craiova City Hall in collaboration with the Colibri Theatre, the Romanian Opera Craiova, and the Dance Factory (Fabrica de Dans), animated the Gazebo area and the lake shores, culminating in the launch of unique holographic projections on the water’s surface – a visual spectacle that will be repeated every evening at 8:30 PM.
A World of Wonder Throughout the Fair
Throughout the fair’s duration, until May 1st, Nicolae Romanescu Park becomes a magical land. Spectacular decorations, including giant props, Venetian masks, exotic birds, oversized flowers and fruits, alongside tens of thousands of multicolored tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths, create an enchanting setting. Unique stalls filled with traditional products and holiday delicacies, artistically lit trees, gondolas on the lake, and the enchanted Castle complete the storybook landscape.
The fair’s program is designed to cater to all tastes. Children can enjoy a dedicated universe with fairytale characters, a trampoline, a carousel, and creative workshops. For thrill-seekers and those seeking panoramic views, hot air balloon rides are available from the Velodrome area. Daily, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the stalls and leisure areas await visitors, and the park remains open until midnight for those wishing to admire the specially created light show for a fairytale spring.
The main stage, located in the meadow between the stalls and Bibescu House and specially decorated with props, will host both talented local artists and renowned Romanian music stars. The concert schedule includes:

Surprises will continue with special moments brought by the team from Southern Romania’s biggest festival – Intencity On Tour.
To facilitate access and offer a complete experience, visitors have themed transportation options. A special train, decorated in the Spring Carnival spirit, will depart daily at 2:00 PM from the secondary entrance of Romanescu Park, and the Party Bus will leave daily at 5:00 PM from Promenada Mall Craiova, both offering tours of important city landmarks.
Organized by Craiova City Hall, the Easter Fair has gained international recognition, being included by prestigious publications like Forbes and European Best Destinations in the top lists of Europe’s most beautiful fairs of its kind, solidifying Craiova’s position as a must-visit spring destination.
